Mesjid Agung Palembang
On every Friday where the Muslim men do their obligatory Friday prayers, a mosque located near the fountain roundabout or the zero point of Palembang is always crowded by traders on this day. These traders sells their wide variety of goods that also includes typical culinary South Sumatra that are rarely encountered everyday.
However beside tourist being able to buy rare goods, the mosque itself is unique to visit. Built by Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin I Jaya Wikrama, this mosque has an architecture design which is influenced by the chinese, european and palembang culture.
The main building of the mosque was built in 1748. The tiles and system of roof is influenced by Chinese architectural style while he main hall is equipped with a traditional ornament of Palembang.
